iPhone - Launch Day

I arrived at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store a little after 5pm.
With an hour to go before launch, I was 119th in line.

At 5:30, they take off the covers.
"Say hello to iPhone."

5:50pm, 10 minutes to go...

It's 7:20pm, I finally make my way inside the Apple Store.
Unfortunately, the line continues inside.

Yard Work

Before:

After:

Sometimes owning a house is a lot of work.

Like today, when I mowed my lawn for the first time. I almost fainted from exhaustion by the time I was done. Not only did I almost die, I paid a bundle for the privilege: $300 for the lawnmower at Lowe's (a self-propelled Troy-Bilt with electric start), $3 for gas, and $7 for lawn bags.

Home Cooking

My first home cooked meal in my new house: fried eggs and tomatoes, cooked vegetables, and rice.

Seizure in the Lab

Yesterday, a woman had a seizure in lab 002 in the basement of the Paul Allen Center. I didn't notice until the paramedics showed up, but apparently what happened was that she went rigid, fell to the floor, and was shaking for about two minutes. Immediately afterwards she had trouble remembering things like her age. After examining her for a while, they took her away on a stretcher.

Lockpicking Set

I just got the most awesome present from my friend Kevin Chiu: a lockpicking set.

Ever since I picked my first lock in my Computer Security class a few weeks ago, I've been itching to do it again. Now I can practice to become an expert lock picker like Kevin.

Laundry Monitoring

HFS just upgraded all of the residence halls' laundry facilities. We can now remotely monitor the status of our laundry online. This is useful if you want to do laundry, but don't want to wait 5 minutes for the elevator only to find all the machines in use when you finally get down to the laundry room. Now you can just check online, and go when there are machines available.

Beer Sampler

It's my friend, Kevin Chiu's 21st birthday today, and he's getting as many freebies as he can. So I went with him to the Ram to get a free mud pie. Since we were there, we each ordered a beer sampler, which I was denied on my own 21st birthday.

I have to say though, all six of the beers tasted more or less the same. Maybe it's because I have no experience with alcohol yet...
